What is Coaching?

The word ‘coaching’ has different meanings for different people. Coaching is not counseling, consulting, or mentoring. It is meeting people where they are, recognizing that they are the expert in their situation, and partnering with them to support their personal and professional growth and to close the gap between their current state and their desired future state.

How can Coaching help me?

I provide a safe space and partner with you to process your thoughts, beliefs, and values in order to take more purposeful actions in life. Coaching can help to resolve issues such lack of confidence, time management, procrastination, lack of discipline, lack of self-control, feeling restless or low-grade anxiety about life, feeling stuck, and relationship issues. Although life won’t stop if we don’t solve these problems, we will live at a lower level and will not achieve what we otherwise could have. Discovering things for ourselves has a greater impact on our lives than being told what to do, and increases our self-confidence and motivation to continue the journey.

What can I expect from Coaching?

Sessions can be tailored to your needs - online or in-person, 30 minutes or an hour. Although one-off sessions are available, we get better results by working through things over multiple sessions.

I will ask questions, challenge assumptions, and provide support as you discover new perspectives and insight into your situation. These will be focused into actions that revitalize your life and keep you on the path that is right for you.

How is Coaching different to Counseling?

Counseling focuses on mental health issues and aims to help people who are finding it difficult to fully function in the present. It is past-focused and works to uncover issues or trauma in order to heal and integrate these into who we are and achieve higher present-day functioning.  

Coaching is for people who are functioning well, but who want to do better and take it to the next level. Coaching helps people get from where they are to where they want to go, through increasing self-awareness, using conscious decision-making, taking focused action, and creating accountability to assess progress.
